Getting started

Frequently asked questions

How do I edit an installment purchase if I got the number of months wrong?

Open the purchase in the Plans section, tap Edit plan, and correct the months, amount, or date. When you save, the installment schedule is recalculated automatically. Note: editing a plan regenerates its schedule, so all installments are recalculated.

How do I delete a loan and its transactions?

Open the loan and tap Delete loan, or swipe on the loan in the list. This removes the loan and all of its transactions (past and future). This action cannot be undone.

I paid off a loan — where did it go?

Paid-off (settled) loans and plans move to the Completed section (collapsible) within their screen, so they don’t mix with the ones that are still active.

Why doesn’t my account balance count everything I’ve paid on a loan?

For an account balance, loans and installment plans only reflect the current month’s payment, not the entire history. You can see the full detail of each loan or plan on its own screen.

Why didn’t a recurring purchase show up in my balance for the month?

The balance only considers transactions that have already occurred (dated today or earlier). Future occurrences of a recurring transaction don’t count yet, because they haven’t happened.

Is my data backed up? Does it sync across devices?

Yes. BillsVault uses iCloud (CloudKit) to store and sync your information across your devices signed in to the same iCloud account. Make sure you’re signed in to iCloud and that sync is enabled.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Settings → Data → Export to CSV to generate a file with all your transactions, ready for backup or to open in Excel/Numbers.

What languages does the app support?

Spanish, English, and Japanese. The app follows the language set on your iPhone.

Can I change the currency?

The default currency is the Mexican peso (MXN).

I’m not getting reminders.

Make sure you’ve granted notification permission to BillsVault in iOS Settings → Notifications → BillsVault, and that your cards and loans have their payment day set.
